The team

Your role
You will contribute to the product delivery of the autonomous driving system. The product delivery includes the correct quality, safety, security and legal compliance. You will be responsible for setting the methods, processes and tools to ensure that all the product deliveries are met. These methods, processes and tools are set together with the developers under you leadership.
Typical tasks can be:
Creating release artefacts for new software.
Compile documentation to provide evidence for the safety of the product
Update parts of the development process to meet new requirements



As a member of an agile team, you will collaborate with the other persons working with the product definition. But you may also support other team members working with field quality or production issues.
Your profile
Most importantly, you are passionate about automation and are excited about the future of autonomous vehicles. You are a team player with the ability to grasp the bigger picture. You work well with cross functional tasks and can utilize the technical expertise in the organization for the delivery.

Scania is now undergoing a transformation from being a supplier of trucks, buses and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions.
Scania has decided to establish a third industrial hub in China with the capacity to produce some 50 000 vehicles per year. Alongside building a new factory and an expansion of the sales network we will also establish a local R&D organisation in China. Our mission in R&D Industrial Operations Asia is to develop trucks specially adapted for the Chinese market, the biggest commercial vehicle market in the world. This requires many new systems and functions to be developed, tested, and introduced.
A dedicated organisation will carry out the work, which will develop and manage the products over time. The organisation will consist of colleagues from all brands within the TRATON Group together with many new colleagues from China. We are building the organisation simultaneously as we develop the product.
The Team
Within the E/E workstream, we have the responsibility for the electrical system and all adoptions to be made in the ECUs, sensors, actuators, cable harnesses, and all the software in the vehicle and the cloud. We work in an agile, cross-functional setup.
Most of the development of the China-specific systems and functions will be done in China, but the solutions based on the platform solutions are developed by the Scania organisation in Södertälje. Therefore some of the SW development needs to be performed in Sweden and that is where you come in. Your tasks will be to implement functionality in the relevant ECUs meanwhile act as Function Owner for L2+ autonomous driving truck. Regarding domain knowledge for a specific system, you will get good support from the teams in China and Sweden.
Your Profile
The systems can be complex and you need to be able to understand and find the right place in the architecture to do the changes with good people skills, good communication abilities and a problem-solving mindset.
Responsibilities:
• Function Ownership: You’ll be the go-to expert for specific functions within L2+ autonomous driving system. Your responsibilities include defining, developing, and maintaining these functions.
• Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including software developers, system owner, and HW engineers. Your ability to communicate effectively and bridge technical and business aspects is crucial.
• Requirements Gathering: Understand user needs and translate them into functional requirements. You’ll collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment with overall product goals.
• SW development: Understand software architecture and design principle and be proficient in programming languages (e.g., C, Python, MATLAB and Simulink).
Requirements
University degree in engineering.
Speak and write English fluently.
Good Embedded C programmer.
Comfortable working with Matlab/Simulink.
3 - 5 years relevant working experience.

What to Expect
As a Sr. C++ Software Engineer within the Motion Planning & Control team, you will have the opportunity to apply your technical skills to a variety of system components & modules aiming higher performance of the team’s outcome and thereby of the Autonomous Transport Solutions as a whole. Your code will typically be connected with a variety of other components, therefore it has to be robust and easy to debug and maintain. You will always strive towards applying modern best software practices. You will be developing system tools to tackle current problems and exploring solutions for future functions. You will be contributing with systemizing planning and control features on a product level, and you will test and validate the code to ensure the system- and functional stability of our stack. You will additionally have the opportunity to test the outcome in real vehicles on Scania’s test track for autonomous vehicles.

We also use simulation models for testing, analysis and further development. C++ is the main coding language used in autonomous software development, but we also have both in house and external supplementary tools written in Python or Matlab.

What You will Do
· Write, debug and maintain robust C++ software to various components such as path or trajectory planning, motion control, etc.
· Advocate for best coding practices amongst the group, build tools helping engineers to write better code
· Optimize hardware resources usage
· Systemizing planning and control features on a product level
· Troubleshooting, failure modes analysis, customer report diagnosis
· Testing in vehicles on Scania’s test track for autonomous vehicles

What You will Bring
· Experience programming C/C++ software, including modern C/C++ (C++14/17/20)
· Experience developing planning methods such as search, sampling, path finding, trajectory optimization, motion control on real autonomous agents (robots or vehicles)
· Experience or familiarity with Robotics, Machine Learning & related software concepts?a plus
· Proficient developing software on a Linux host, for embedded Linux targets (cross-compilation, etc.)?a plus
· Experience with at least one of the following preferred: GPU programming Cuda/OpenCL, multithreading, Linux system software, Neural Networks PyTorch/TensorFlow/Keras

Key Responsibilities
As a part of a software development team, you will be responsible for developing the application software for the battery management system for Scania and Traton brands. Battery Pack Safety, emergency switch off and isolation measurement are some of the safety functions and services we work with. All developers work with software requirements, implementation and tests for our modules where the tests can be performed both in simulation and in trucks or busses.
Our System is moving towards ISO26262 certification, so as a developer, you are also responsible for following the process and producing the necessary documentation.
For the software function or module you work with, you drive the cross-functional cooperation with other involved teams and contribute to the discussions with our stakeholders. You also work strategically with continuous improvements for our product and our tools.
Skills & Requirements
You have a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Physics, Software engineering or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience to perform at this level.
You have good knowledge of C/C++, Matlab/Simulink and RTOS (real-time operating system) and several years of experience in Embedded Software development.
Experience in automotive applications and standards as well as CAN bus vehicle standards is meritorious.

What do we do?
The group has a very broad field of work within mechatronics (SW, control systems, electronics) and works, among other things, on projects that develop concept vehicles/solutions for future transportation where there is a strong focus on sustainability, efficiency, and safety. The group also helps to investigate and develop technical solutions to allow Scania to quickly deliver early electrification solutions to our customers for testing.

As we continually receive more interesting and challenging assignments for the group, we need to strengthen them with one or more individuals to meet our delivery goals. Examples of interesting projects we have worked on include Scania NXT and Scania PXT bus. Examples of ongoing projects is building of an electrically driven trailer and building of a prototype vehicle for the future off-peak city deliveries.
Your mission
As a system developer in the group, you will have a very interesting, developing, and challenging hands-on job. You will be part of our team that works on technical concepts, prototype vehicles, and future transport solutions. The focus is on finding creative technical solutions that aim more toward the future than toward production solutions. As the group's technology area is very broad, you must have the desire and be prepared to learn new things that you do not already master. The tasks are very varied, and you will collaborate with many different groups within the company.
Who are you?
You are a curious engineer who wants to make a difference with at least a few years of relevant experience. As a person, you have the ability to zoom in and out of technical challenges while balancing needs and requirements. You can also argue for the solutions you find and choose. You have the ability to understand new technology and apply it. You are attentive and have an easy time creating trust. You should feel comfortable both tackling a challenge yourself and as part of a team. You are responsible and want to be an important puzzle piece in advancing our successful team.

You should..
• Have a bachelor's or master's degree in mechatronics, computer engineering, electronics, or other relevant fields, or equivalent work experience.
• Have experience in programming embedded systems.
• Have a driver's license (preferably experience driving heavy vehicles).
• Be able to fluently communicate in English, both in spoken and written forms. Additionally, if you're not already proficient in Swedish, you should be willing to learn it.

What you will do
You will be part of an autonomous and agile development team of nine people that is responsible for a large .Net application with several modules. Together with our current tester and the rest of the team you will be responsible for the quality assurance for the application by performing manual testing, regression testing and also continue building a test automation suite to make the development flow more efficient and robust.
Together with the team and the Product Owner and the users you are involved in all stages of the development process and the ongoing projects including requirements work, development, testing, and release management.
Your skills
As a tester in the team you need to have a team-first mindset, social skills and at least a few years of experience within system- and integration testing including documentation. Besides this we also believe that you have experience using JavaScript to setup test automation scripts using Cypress or a similar tool. You are also likely used to working in an agile environment using Scrum or other methodologies and if you have experience working with .Net based web applications, it is a bonus.

This includes torque and speed control as well as cooling and lubrication control. Our team is working with embedded software development, but are working closely together with other software and hardware teams. Together we are working towards common goals and are fast to adopt our work to align with new needs from the market. The team we are hiring for consists of both software developers and testers with different nationalities and levels of experience.


Tasks
Areas of responsibility for the team includes: dynamic torque control, speed control, tuning of torque curves, development of functions for hardware protection, temperature estimation, lubrication control among others. The team is also responsible for the overall driver experience of the power delivery from the powertrain. Different team members have different areas of expertise, but are also expected to strive for a broad knowledge in order to efficiently work together within the team and help each other to reach the team goals. Parts of the team usually participates in climate tests both in winter and summer time.
Your tasks will focus on embedded system development including writing code, writing requirements, functional testing in simulation environment as well as testing in actual trucks. We are working with model based development using Simulink as well as writing C-code.
A typical day can for example consist of finalizing a new function at your desk in the morning, running a few tests in simulation environment before lunch and validating the functionality in a truck on the test track after lunch.


Profile
The profile we are looking for is typically someone who:

Has a master's degree in mechatronics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics or a related field.
Has a background in embedded system development either from education and/or from working experience.
Has experience of working with Matlab/Simulink and writing C-code.
Enjoys working in a team and is not afraid to seek new tasks to work on and who is eager to learn from experienced colleagues.
Preferably has at least a driver's license for passenger cars.
Fluent in English

Role Summary
We also aim to transform the way we are working, with clear focus on innovative software solutions. As part of the initiative, and in order to establish Scania as a software company, we are building up a research team in the area of software defined vehicles. One of the goals is to increase the speed of product development by utilizing solutions based upon software combined with digitalization and automation of the development framework.
The research team consists of PhD-students and research engineers. The focus of the research engineers is to run case studies, build prototypes, create proof-of-concepts. We apply an approach of case-study driven research, meaning that research ideas are implemented and evaluated on case studies. The result is then analyzed, and drive the next step in research. As a research engineer you get the opportunity to contribute in development of novel methodology using state-of-the art knowledge. The overall goal of Scania research is to prepare Scania to take next steps needed to stay in a top position as an automotive OEM.

Description
This specific position is for the project TADDO – “Trustworthy Automated Driving DevOps”, in which we intend address the insufficiency of current DevOps practices for safety-critical systems. Trustworthy DevOps refers to the need to trust the entire “loop”; from monitoring over updates to the actual safety risks and performance related to the “updated behaviors” and their impact. A focus of the work will be formal methods to ensure modular trustworthy architectures for autonomous SW defined vehicles. What are we actually doing? We are five agile development teams working with Scania’s system for maintenance of vehicles. It is of great importance a vehicle spend as much time as possible on the road doing business. To make this happen, we gather real-time data from the vehicles and optimize an unique maintenance plan for each customer depending on how the vehicle is operated.

Your assignment

As a hardware Engineer, you are responsible for designing and cabling our powertrain rigs for products in the whole TRATON group (MAN, Scania, Navistar, and VW truck and bus). 

Your main tasks will consist of:


• Maintaining ETAS HW and dSpace HW
• Build and design new HIL rigs
• Upgrade existing HW based on requirements for ECU
• Cabling

Tools and techniques that you will use:


• Eplan
• ETAS LCO
• ETAS RTPC
• Scalexio

In this position, it is required to be in place, as the work is done in our Powertrain Lab.

Is this you?

To succeed in this role we believe that you are able to design and work with electronic components. You should have the ability to plan and design sustainable and technical solutions that provide our users with the required and needed test environments. Therefore you should be good at and enjoy working in a team of very motivated people who like to reach common goals.

We would also like that..


• You have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, preferably within mechatronics, electronics, or equivalent work experience.
• You have at least 3 years of work experience as a Hardware Engineer.
• You have experience or a good understanding of Electronic Control Units.
• You have experience working in the automotive industry.
• You write and speak fluently in English. If you write and speak fluently in Swedish, it is a merit.

Knowledge about Scania's electrical system ETAS, dSpace, or other HIL solutions is also highly meritorious.

The role

You will create and maintain an architectural vision and technical roadmap for the battery factory in connection with the overall architecture for P&L. One of your main responsibilities will be to understand the current architecture of the existing landscape and support the IT teams implement the target architecture.

As a key member of the team focusing on battery production you will work closely with Business stakeholders, the Lead Solution Architect and Business Architect responsible for this domain. The Lead Architect for Production and the Software Architects with expertise of the applications in the IT landscape are resources you will also have close collaboration with. As this is a cross-functional role you will work with other IT stakeholders including Project Managers, Business Analysts, Line Managers, Product Owners, etc., and resources in other Scania IT departments. A collaborative mindset is how you will ensure the business needs, architecture perspectives and standards are fully considered and secured in the IT solution at the battery factory.

You have 


• worked in a tactical role in creating IT solutions for at least 5 years, with experience in architecting technical solutions in a complex IT landscape  
• Driving technical change of significant complexity as a part of a digital transformation journey
• modelling experience and can develop different views at different levels, from simple to complex depending on the need and audience 
• great communication and presentation skills in English
